Tribal SDstyle is a non-profit organization in San Diego (California) that raises money for worthy charities by producing dance and entertainment events, including a yearly tribal belly dance festival.

Tribal SDstyle Festival 2008

The Tribal SDstyle Festival 2008 was on November 8-9 at Coronado School of the Arts. It featured day time performances by talented dancers and musicians, a unique marketplace with many vendors, workshops, and a Sunday screening of the documentary Beyond the Belly Dance. We also had a fabulous Saturday night Gala Evening Show featuring live drumming and belly dance stars from around the country.

Due to the current state of the economy, future events are on hold until further notice. We will be back again with a new focus after our 501c3 status is in place. In the meantime, please enjoy the photographs and videos from 2005-2008. Thank you for your support. Please give generously to the following organizations: Transcendance, COSA and Humanitarian Circus.

Recent Events

On October 26, 2008, we warmed up to the TSDS'08 festival with Temple of Dance at Cafe india, featuring Steven, Karen and Palo Duro y Flor (YouTube 5:06).

Our annual Wine Tasting on September 13, 2008 at Wine Steals NTC Promenade Point Loma helped us raise money for our 501(c)3 charitable foundation filing and our upcoming annual Tribal SDstyle festival. We provided appetizers and five tastings from expertly selected wines. Three of our amazing instructors performed through out the evening - Karen Tapia, Kirti Srivastava and Steven Eggers. We had many neat items for the silent auction - class cards, beautiful art, gorgeous bellydance/costuming pieces, yoga classes, drum lesson, etc. All money from Laura Creatrix' henna artistry at the event was donated to fund the festival, with guests going home with a gorgeous bit of body-art knowing that their payment went to a good cause.

On Friday night, August 22, 2008, we had a great Kami Liddle show at Kava Lounge, also featuring Tribal SDstyle'08 instructors Olu, Politti, Ayse, Steven, Sabrina, Karen, Mirabelle, and special guests. It was followed by a Kami Liddle workshop on Saturday, and a performance Sunday by Tribal SDstyle instructor Karen Tapia and volunteers at Celebrate Dance in Balboa Park. Thanks to all performers, participants and volunteers. Check out the photo gallery for the events!

The San Diego Reader prominently mentioned Tribal SDstyle in their August 20, 2008 story Bellies and Hornpipes.
